That striking new winery north on the Silverado Trail may be a beautifully dramatic addition to the neighborhood, but it retains a very close connection to the past.  Davis Estates was born from the restoration of a 1916 barn, which was originally built on the property using local redwood, making it both functional and finely crafted.  Renowned architect Howard Backen paid homage to this heritage building by selecting rich, warm wood and stone materials to construct the winery building and tasting room, designing a space that combines historical authenticity with the latest technology.  

Since crushing their first vintage in 2011, Sandy and Mike Davis have been involved with day-to-day operations of restoring the property, planting vineyards and building a state-of-the-art winery from the ground up.  The wine-production facility is outfitted with the best grape-processing equipment, a selection of fermentation vessels and uniquely appointed caves.

The lucky winner and a guest will enjoy a tour of the historic property and a tasting of Davis Estates wines.  And, to enjoy now -- a magnum of the 2014 Davis Estates Cabernet Sauvignon, which spent 22 months in barrel.  Tasting notes say that there is “… a complexity of aromas and sweet ripe fruit characters with tones of berry … and chocolate nuances ... with well structured tannin that completes the wine and leaves ever lingering mature flavors.”

Like the fine wines produced there, this will be an experience to be savored, leisurely enjoyed and long remembered.

Collection of California Sales Tax: Unless a valid resale permit is presented to seller prior to the sale, purchaser will be required to pay all state and local retail sales taxes applicable on the date of sale. Resale permits will be accepted only for businesses that are reasonably expected to buy and sell wine. Sales tax will be collected on the purchase price of each lot which contains tangible goods.

Shipping or Pick up of Wines: Shipping costs are the sole responsibility of the winner.

Non-Napa County winners must arrange for their wines to be shipped from The Packaging Company, beginning Friday, March 1, 2019. If you're the lucky winner, we'll call or email you with directions for making this happen.

Napa County winners of auction lots containing wine may pick up their wines at the St. Helena office of the UpValley Family Centers beginning Friday, March 1, 2019. If you are the lucky winner, we'll call or email you with directions and details.
