Winemaker Notes:
The aromatics of the 2015 Coastview Chardonnay are flamboyantly floral and varietal with a backbone of minerality. White and yellow flowers, hints of poached pear and crushed rocks dominate with distinctly saline notes. On the palate, the wine is dense and concentrated with vibrant acidity that keeps it fresh and lively. Pear and white stone fruit persist on the long and lingering finish. This is one of those wines that does not remain in one's glass for long. And while delicious now, it will likely age very well for 5-10 years.
Approachable at release, though improved significantly with a decanting, the wine will continue to gain complexity and mineral character over the next 3-5 years and age gracefully for at least 10+ years, especially from magnum.
We recommend pairing this wine with seafood, white meats with citrus glazes, or simply enjoyed on a nice afternoon.
- Antonio Galloni, Vinous. 93 points "The 2015 Chardonnay Coastview Vineyard is deep, plush and super-expressive, all while retaining terrific energy. Lemon peel, flowers, slate and pear notes are pushed forward. I would give the 2015 at least six months in bottle, as it is very tight at this stage. Even so, the 2015 has a distinctly phenolic, saline feel."
