Item Description

This kite making workshop is for "kids" ages 8 to 80. You will learn how, when, and where to safely fly your veyr own kite. You will discover why you thought that "I could never make it fly." Understand your environment, wind direction, and speed and how it affects your kite.  This is an ideal gift for birthday parties and adult gatherings. All materials provided by Kite Education. Limited to 15 participants.

About Kite Education & Archie Stewart

Kite Education workshops are presented by Archie Stewart of Chestnut Hill, MA. Archie specializes in presenting educational kite workshops in grades K-12. He also visits community groups, day and summer camps, public and private organizations, corporate retreats and team building seminars. He performs indoor kite flying demonstrations, showing his ability to fly kite ballets indoors to music and teaching indoor flight to children young and old. Archie works toward developing and fostering the growth of kiting.

Archie is a member of: American Kitefliers Association (AKA)http://www.aka/kites.org Past Board Member and Chairman of Festivals and Competitions for Kites Over New England (KONE) http://www.kone.org/ the regional kite club of New England. He is also a member of ConnectiKiters kite club, headquartered in Norwalk, CT and a member and competitor of the Eastern League Flyers Association.

Archie has produced kite festivals for KONE, Massachusetts Metropolitan District Commission, public and private community groups and other organizations in the Metro Boston area.  He was curator for an International Kite Exhibit at the Wenham Museum in Wenham, MA. He has also conducted workshops at the Worcester Art Museum, DeCordova Museum, Wenham Museum and the opening of the new Topsfield Library.

Archie presented an interactive television broadcast for MASS INTERACTION, formally Massachusetts Corporation for Educational Telecommunication (MCET) called "Life’s a Breeze” The Art and Science of Kites. The one hour program was broadcast to 127 schools across the country including Guam and Puerto Rico. Focusing on grade 4 to 6, students watch an interactive broadcast and asked questions relating to the math history, geography and science of kites via an audiobridge to the studio. The workshop taught students how and why kites fly, how to determine wind speed and direction, proper launching techniques and kite safety.


He has presented kite workshops for the Salem Police Dept. D.A.R.E. program, Essex County District Attorneys Office D.A.R.E. summer camp program, Marblehead YMCA Children’s Island Day Camp summer program and Lynn Salute to Youth. Brae Burn Country Club, Children’s Hospital PKU Foundation, Children’s festival and Boston’s Parks & Recreation Kite Festival, South Cove Community Health Centers, program to name a few. Archie presents a program he calls "Cops, Kites n’ Kids", focusing on the need for greater community interaction.
