John Steven studied with Marguerite Wildenhain in 1975 and 1976.

John Steven Kjome's "Oneota Primitives" jewelry is made from his beach pebble pickings on the Upper Iowa river (Oneota), combined with hand forged copper, African glass beads, and leather lace. The stones are river tumbled limestone and other materials that are 450-500 million years old (Ordovician).
