Item Description
This unique piece features a beautifully crafted tree with carefully spaced branches arching out in a semi-circle and roots reaching down and outwards... all secured to a repurposed, circular piece of wood naturally streaked with light and dark tones.
About the artist:
"Christopher Allen came to Santa Cruz in 1996 to attend the University of California, Santa Cruz. He has worked as an educator for the last 15 years and as a recycled materials artist for the last three. Chris was first drawn to art by an insatiable desire to work with his hands and an abundance of available materials. Chris has always loved the idea of re-purposing...taking everyday objects and using them in different, creative ways. He works with recycled bottles, salvaged plywood and barn wood, wire, scrap materials, bicycle parts, etc. Inspired by the pop culture of his childhood, and the natural world around us, he creates pieces that show the juxtaposition between the natural and human-made worlds, the interaction between the concrete and abstract; and the effects of light, shadow and texture."
