Item Description
When you think of Denmark, you probably don’t envision it as a wine-producing country. Prepare to be surprised. Up for auction is an exclusive visit and wine tasting for you and up to 14 guests at the more than 500 year-old Frederiksdal estate, beautifully located by the water on the island of Lolland. The estate has a place in several chapters of Danish history (for example, the Swedes seized it when walking over the ice of Storebælt during a famous battle in 1658), but since 2006 Frederiksdal revolutionized wine production with its celebrated cherry wine. “The pursuit of the ultimate cherry wine” is the mantra of Frederiksdal Kirsebærvin. No one has ever fermented cherries like this. No one chased the genetically best cherry in terms of taste for wine production, and no one has built a winery combining techniques from Bordeaux, Banyules, and Burgundy with wine ageing in Cognac, Port, red wine and Grand Marnier barriques. During the tour and tasting, you will learn all about the special processes and methods used, and the flavors and scents for the wines in the barrels. Aging and maturation give very different tastes to their seven different types of wine, of which you will taste four to six. Check the website here: http://www.frederiksdal.com/en/
