"Sophie Reiter's summer isn't going well, which really isn't surprising since her first two years of high school haven't been exactly sunshine and roses. Now her family's July 4th reunion looms forebodingly before her full of noise, pesky cousins, and her obnoxious brother. To top it all off Aunt Sophia, the one person who has always made these reunions enjoyable won't be there. Sadly, Aunt Sophia passed away last fall. Sophie had always been able to talk to Aunt Sophia about anything, and her bond with her great aunt had been inseverable despite the two generations that separated them. At this summer's reunion however, Sophie will discover that even death can't separate them, because Aunt Sophia has a story yet to tell from beyond the grave. A story about a catastrophic storm that forever altered the lives of Aunt Sophia's family, the citizens of Galveston, and the people of Texas."

REVIEWS for "General Houston's Little Spy":
Jack Magnus: "Cara Skinner's young adult historical novel is a poignant and well-researched coming of age story about a young woman whose life is forever changed by the battle of the Alamo. General Houston's Little Spy: A Texas Revolution Story is highly recommended."
Samantha Dewitt (Rivera) for Readers' Favorite 5 Stars!
"This book was one that I literally couldn't stop reading. If you love historical fiction and you really like romance, then you're absolutely going to love this book just as much as I did."
This is an excellent historical fiction for Middle and High school students, and adults as well. It follows the facts of the battles for the San Antonio citizens at the Alamo in an understandable but complete manner, as well as the the growth of the other early settlements in Texas. The protagonists are young people eloping from Tennessee to Texas, and that journey is also authetic. This is a wonderful glimpse into another time that tweens and teens can understand and empathise with - please read it, parents, and share it with your kids.
