"These stories are the legacy of America.  A generation was called to save the world valiantly and selflessly, and now is recognized by a grateful nation.  Legacy of Courage shares the stories from the frontlines of war and from today's Honor Flights that bring our veterans to the memorials built in their honor.  This book is a preservation of humna history that passes the Greatest Generation's legacy of valor and humility on to the 21st Century."

-Congressman and Lt. Colonel Brad Wenstrup

Honor Flight is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing veterans with honor and closure.

The History of Honor Flight

The inaugural Honor Flight Tour took place in May of 2005. Six small planes flew out of Springfield, Ohio taking twelve World War II veterans on a visit to the memorial in Washington, DC. In August of 2005, an ever-expanding waiting list of veterans led our transition to commercial airline carriers with the goal of accommodating as many veterans as possible. Partnering with HonorAir in Hendersonville, North Carolina, we formed the “Honor Flight Network.” Today, we continue working aggressively to expand our programs to other cities across the nation.
