Item Description

Spend one week in a house in the beautiful resort town of Calpe, Spain.
Only 1.5 miles from the Mediterranean, "Casa Pied-à-Terre" is a delightful 2-bedroom, 2-en suite bathroom villa, five minutes by car from the town, beaches, restaurants, bars, a shopping area, a marina with scuba diving, sailing, windsurfing, catamaran, etc.

Sip a glass of Rioja on the large terrace with cozy lighting, while enjoying the best view in the area: the famous Penon d'Ifach (the name of the big rock in Calpe).
Enjoy great walks along the rocky and sandy shoreline that connect 14 different beaches (some "remote"). Take great day trips to beautiful old cities such as Altea and Guadelest (town with old castle).

Fly into Alicante, just under an hour's drive away, or Valencia, less than two hours by car. Barcelona and Madrid are approx. a 4-5 hour drive.

The house has recently been renovated and modifications include an outdoor terrace, an outdoor shower (hot and cold), AC/heating, a gas and a coal BBQ, a washing machine, a dishwasher, a large fridge, new beds and bedding, new bathrooms, and more. Internet access is included.

The small print: The kitchen is tiny (see picture).

Nonsmoking only. Rental includes linens, towels, Wifi, Cable TV and utilities.

Testimonial from previous winner:

We won the Calpe house in the 2017 auction. It’s a great little house, very comfortable, in a quiet area of a very busy beach town, with terrific views and close enough to the town so that you can easily get anywhere you want to go. There were only two of us, but you could definitely do the house with another couple or children. The kitchen is really, really tiny. The Costa Blanca is primary a Mediterranean beach scene, with a wide variety of European tourists visiting the area. They all stay at condos along the beach. You get a really nice house. The beaches are lovely and you could easily spend an entire week going from beach to beach to beach. We’re not beach people, so we spent the days exploring the area, including hiking the Penon de Ifach, touring the Old Town, and driving along the coast and into the interior. We saw a castle, a Salt and Pepper Shaker museum, an outdoor art exhibit and had a private tour of the one remaining Roman ruin in Calpe (Check out my Trip Advisor review.) There are some great restaurants if you move away from the tourist areas. The surrounding towns have some nice things to offer. Yes, it’s not on the “tourist trail”, but it is a beautiful part of Spain. Best of all, if you’re a cycling fan, Calpe is home base for many pro cyclists and the 2019 Vuelta will be finishing its 2nd stage in Calpe at the end of August. There are some terrific cycling routes in the area. So take a chance and when people ask you where you went, say Spain’s “Costa Blanca!” with confidence and panache!
