Item Description
Discover the history and beauty of Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park with a knowledgeable guide on a two-hour customized walk for six to ten people. This 1200-acre woodland and stream valley park was created by the city from once private properties including the former Thomas Winans Crimea Estate. Thomas Winans returned to Baltimore in 1849 as a wealthy man after he participated in building the first Russian railroad from St. Petersburg to Moscow. When he settled in the former McHenry Estate and renamed it Alexandrovsky, he assembled the 1000-acre Crimea Estate and built Orianda house as a summer residence in West Baltimore.
Item Special Note
Walking tour to take place at a mutually agreeable date and time by November 30, 2019--so you can choose to enjoy the Fall colors. Ms. Grundmann has been a park steward, advocate, and park user for over 45 years. Winner will receive contact information.
