Item Description

A collection of some outstanding but not well known Italian wines, including:

Montepeloso Eneo 2012, Maremma
Vinous 93:

The 2012 Eneo is striking. Fresh, nuanced and beautifully delineated in the glass, the 2012 possesses gorgeous energy and class. Sweet red cherries, plums, violets, tobacco, game and spices meld together effortlessly. This is one of the more understated Maremma wines  readers will find in 2012. Sweet floral, game and pipe tobacco notes add aromatic intrigue on the close. The Eneo (a blend of Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Alicante and Malvasia Nera) offers terrific freshness and aromatic complexity, especially within the context of the year.

Sette Ponti Poggio Al Lupo 2005, Maremma
Wine Enthusiast 92
Wine Spectator 91:

Intense aromas of black currant and spices, with a hint of fresh herbs. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Structured. Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante and Petit Verdot. Best after 2010. – James Sanderson

Pietro Caciorgna Macchie Terre di Casole 2008, Terre di Casole

Everytime I pop open a bottle of 2008 Macchie (100% Sangiovese), everyone in the room comments about how delicious it is. I was so glad that I wiped out the inventory of this one when Paolo came to town last year. An absolute bargain! – Daniel Posner

Tenuta di Ghizzano Nambrot 2013, Pisa
Vinous  93:

Ghizzano's 2013 Nambrot is another gorgeous wine from Ghizzano. Black cherry, blackberry, menthol, licorice, lavender and cloves are some of the many notes that develop. There is lovely succulence to the fruit, yet the 2013 remains mid-weight, gracious and highly expressive. The blend is 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Petit Verdot.
