Dyer and Meteor – The Perfect Blend
---2016 horizontal of One 750 ml each of
-Meteor Perseid,
-Dyer Diamond Mountain,
and a special blend:
-Meteor/Dyer “Wolf Origin”

Here’s a wonderful collection of wines from the 2016 vintage….  They are all very special wines showcasing the mastery of winemaking team Dawnine and Bill Dyer but there is one wine that is a once in a lifetime special bottling:

The 2016 Premier Napa Valley, “Wolf Origin” was named after legendary vineyard manager Mike Wolf, who introduced the winemaking team of Dawnine and Bill Dyer to Meteor Vineyard in 2003.  The Shulers, owners of Meteor Vineyard, and the Dyers, became partners and this wine was produced as a special once in a lifetime blend to commemorate the 15-year anniversary of their first collaboration.

It is crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the volcanic soils of both the Meteor Vineyard estate in Coombsville and Dyer Vineyard estate on Diamond Mountain, and the result is a stunning Cabernet Sauvignon highlighting characteristics from both ends of the Napa Valley. The result is arresting!

From Meteor in Coombsville comes the full-throated blackberry, chocolate, cinnamon and spice.  Upvalley, the Dyers’ Diamond Mountain fruit injects blueberry, anise and exotic warm red chilis into the mix. Together, they dovetail into a fascinating Cabernet that is bright, complex and supple, with firm, ample and grippy young tannins, unlike no other.  Of the single barrel made, only one case – 12 bottles! — were made available for extremely fortunate auctions like this.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Meteor Perseid is deep garnet-black in color with cassis, kirsch, redcurrants and blackberries on the nose plus cedar, cigars, earth and bay leaf notes. The palate is medium-bodied and lively with firm, grainy tannins and juicy acidity, finishing long.

The 2016 Dyer Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain is blended of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot.  Deep garnet-purple colored, it has a compelling nose of fresh red and black currants, black berries and underbrush with touches of garrigue, lavender, cigar box and fertile loam.  The palate is full-bodied and built like a brick house, with firm, ripe, grainy tannins and bold fruit complimented by lovely freshness, finishing long and crunchy.

What a fabulous trio! You better get on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
