Item Description

This set of 3 Chardonnays from Chateau St. Jean includes:

2015 Reserve Chardonnay, Sonoma County

Chateau St. Jean's Reserve wines are crafted by selecting the vineyard lots from throughout Sonoma County that offer the most generous fruit expression and the ability to age. The 2015 Sonoma County Reserve Chardonnay is our 18th vintage of this wine.

The 2015 Chateau St. Jean Reserve Chardonnay offers complex aromas of Meyer lemon, fresh ginger, toasted almonds and baking spice. The nose rings true on the palate, with layered flavors of Crenshaw melon, lemon curd and hints of brioche toast. The well-structured wine is broad and balanced with a warm, rich texture and vibrant acidity. The long, flavorful finish shows a classic lemon verbena flavor that is a hallmark for the Sonoma County Reserve Chardonnay.

2015 Robert Young Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay, Alexander Valley

This single-vineyard (100%) Chardonnay opens with bright aromas of lemon curd, ripe Anjou pear, freshly grated nutmeg spice and delicate honeysuckle. The nose is highlighted on the palate with Meyer lemon and citrus oil notes, while the focused flavors are a signature of Robert Young Vineyard Chardonnay. With a rich texture and clean minerality, this well-structured, non malolactic wine has a creamy, full-bodied texture that pulls through to the graceful finish.

2016 Bell Terre Vineyard Chardonnay Alexander Valley

Chateau St. Jean has been producing Belle Terre Vineyard Chardonnay since 1975. The Belle Terre Vineyard terrain consists of gently rolling land with well-drained, gravelly and sandy loam soils. Warm spring temperatures and even weather throughout the growing season led to an earlier than normal harvest for most of Sonoma County.

The fruit for this wine is whole cluster pressed and immediately sent to barrel for fermentation. After fermentation, the wine is aged in small French oak barrels. The fruit-forward nature of this wine is enhanced by the malolactic fermentation process it goes through, producing a well-structured yet elegant wine.

This wine offers bright aromas of peach, lemon curd and notes of sweet vanilla spice. The wine is medium-bodied with a rich palate. Well-structured and balanced by a core of ripe fruit characteristics and line of racy acidity. The mouthwatering flavors of Meyer lemon sorbet and pineapple linger on the long finish.
