Longest Winning Streak in History
This print vividly captures two things: the Patriots' stadium in Foxboro and the team's record breaking 19th straight victory in progress.
In dazzling detail, you can see how Gillette Stadium looked on 10/10/04, when New England set the all-time mark for greatness by beating the Miami Dolphins, one of the teams that held the previous record of 18 consecutive wins. When the photo was taken the Patriots had a 10-7 lead as Tom Brady dropped back to pass with 1:59 remaining in the first half. With linemen engaged and receivers making their break, you can clearly see the play developing from the Miami 20 that would result in a 14-yard completion to Kevin Faulk. Six yards and two plays later, the Pats' scored what would be the decisive points in the 24-10 win, reaching the end zone from which the panorama photograph was taken by Rob Arra, whose one-of-a-kind photos are taken with a specialized camera system that eliminates the blurring and striation often present in panoramic photographs.
So the view of the action on the football field is pristine and so too is the sight of the triple-decked stadium that was the site of what then NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue referred to as an "extraordinary milestone." The Patriots would go on to win 21 straight games and to this day that remains the longest winning streak in history.
As part of this poster, a mini Patriots logo and the Gillette Stadium bridge and lighthouse logo are in the lower corners of the white border that surrounds the image, which has such good clarity that you can actually read the numbers on the scoreboards.
