Item Description

Silvertone "Mood" color changing dinosaur pendant necklace.

Your own energy will cause the mood necklace to change color to reveal your inner emotions.

Adjustable from 16" - 18"

Pendant - 1" x 2"

The origins of mood jewelry can be traced back to mid-70s when two American inventors Maris Ambats and Josh Reynolds first patented mood necklaces and mood rings. However, there is also a claim from Marvin Wernick who states he had developed a mood ring a decade before but did not patent his work. The early 1980s saw a great demand for mood rings and mood bracelets.

When a person wears a mood necklace, the crystals inside the jewelry react to the body’s core temperature. Our body’s natural temperature is 37 deg C or 98.6 F. When we are happy, feeling passionate or excited the body’s temperature rises. The mood ring crystals then react to this change and twist in one direction. The wavelength and frequency of light then change causing a change in the perception of color seen on the jewelry. Similarly, when we are depressed, sad or have ‘a cold feeling in the heart’, the crystals twist in the opposite direction causing a different color of the necklace.
