About Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune (from playbill.com)
In celebration of four-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally’s 80th birthday, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune comes back to Broadway in a new production starring Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award winner Audra McDonald and two-time Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon, and directed by Obie Award winner Arin Arbus. Two of the most acclaimed actors of their generation bring the bruised dreamers of Terrence McNally’s classic romance to new life.
SYNOPSIS: A lonely waitress and a short order cook's first date turns into a one-night stand—maybe more.

About Audra McDonald
Audra McDonald is unparalleled in the breadth and versatility of her artistry as both a singer and an actress. In addition to a record-breaking six Tony Awards—distinguishing her as the most decorated performer in American theater—she is the recipient of two Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, and a 2015 National Medal of Arts bestowed on her by President Barack Obama. Blessed with a luminous soprano and an incomparable gift for dramatic truth-telling, she is as much at home on Broadway and concert stages as she is on film and television. As a recording artist, she has released six solo albums. Her training in classical voice at Juillard has led to appearances with leading opera companies and orchestras around the world. But of all her many roles, her favorites are the ones performed offstage: passionate advocate for equal rights and homeless youth, wife to actor Will Swenson, and mother.
