I teach piano lessons, music theory, and harmonica lessons, in Encinitas, CA. My students come from North County, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Solana Beach, Rancho Santa Fe, Vista, San Marcos, Carmel Valley, La Jolla, Del Mar, Leucadia, Escondido, and San Diego.
My teaching mirrors my experience as a life long student and performing artist. I'm a classically trained pianist and composer, seasoned by years of jazz, blues, and rock bands. For me, reading music AND improvising is the best of both worlds. I teach sight reading using a variety of method books, including Faber, Bastien, and Alfred, as well as publications of the masters. Now we have the wealth of sheet music from the internet. Because of my experience as a performer of many styles of American music, I'm also steeped in the tradition of improvisation or "playing by ear." So I like to teach a balance of jamming or improve with the advantages of playing with classical technique, understanding theory, and reading in the European tradition. I provide my own, customized, theory sheets. The two approaches enhance each other. The European tradition of note reading and the American tradition of improvisation provide a balanced and holistic approach to music. You name it, and we'll play it, AND understand it, so you can remember it, and get the most out of it. Mary Had a Little Lamb, Cold Play, Gershwin, Blues, Sting, Doris Day, Be-Bop, Monk, The Beatles, or Beethoven ... it's all the same to me.

Item pick up will be at Capri Elementary March 25-29th 11am-1:30pm
Bidder is responsible for Shipping and Handling fee and any additional insurance, which will be added to the winning bid amount. Bidder may be billed separately for shipping charges depending on the item and location. Items will be shipped via USPS and billed at standard industry rates.
