Item Description
Commemorative Washington Post Press Plate
The Washington Post uses press plates like this one to print the daily newspaper on its offset presses. These presses are among the largest and fastest offset presses in the world. The press plates are attached to cylinders in the presses. The ink is “offset” from the press cylinder to a blanket cylinder. Paper is pulled upward between pairs of blanket cylinders and printed on both sides at the same time.
This press plate is a reproduction of the plate that was used to print front page of the January 1, 2000 edition of The Washington Post. The led story Y2K Stories Dissipate.
This plate should be framed for display.
