About Moulin Rouge! The Musical (from Playbill.com)
Freedom! Beauty! Truth! Love! Broadway! Baz Luhrmann's beloved 2001 film Moulin Rouge! comes to Broadway, with a cast including Tony winner Karen Olivo (West Side Story, In the Heights), Aaron Tveit (Next to Normal), six-time Tony nominee Danny Burstein (Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret), Tony nominee Sahr Ngaujah (Fela), Tam Mutu (Doctor Zhivago), Ricky Rojas (Burn the Floor), and Robyn Hurder (Nice Work if You Can Get It). Directed by two-time Tony nominee Alex Timbers (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Peter and the Starcatcher), Moulin Rouge! has a book by Tony winner John Loan (Red), choreography by Sonya Tayeh (Kung Fu), and music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements by Justin Levine (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson).
SYNOPSIS: Set in the Montmartre Quarter of Paris, France at the turn of the century, a world of indulgent beauty and unparalleled extravagance, of bohemians and aristocrats, of boulevardiers and mademoiselles, Moulin Rouge! The Musical tells the fictional story of an ambitious, lovesick writer, Christian, and a dazzling, entrancing chanteuse, Satine. Their lives collide at the Moulin Rouge with its many characters including the host of the Moulin Rouge, Harold Zidler, the brilliant and starving artist Toulouse-Lautrec, the greatest tango dancer - and gigolo - in all of Paris, Santiago, the tempting Nini, and The Duke of Monroth, the wealthy and entitled patron of the club who thinks he can buy anything he wants, including love.
About Pergola des Artistes
A homestyle French restaurant in the heart of Times Square's Theatre District, Pergola des Artistes is a small family-run bistro that has been serving traditional French cuisine to theatergoers since 1963. The simple decor reflects what small French restaurants looked like in the founders' home town of Cominac, in the French Pyrenees. Many of the recipes were brought over from small villages in France. Today, the founders' son runs the restaurant. The restaurant has always been a place where tourists, locals and the theater crowd can get a good meal and be out in time for a show.
