Item Description
Mahoney Carneros Single Vineyard Pinot Noir, 2 Bottles
In the early 1970s, Francis and Kathleen Mahoney built a small family winery in a region soon to become the Carneros Appellation. Their goal was to produce the very best Pinot Noir California could offer. Decades of experimentation in their certified sustainable vineyards and in the wine cellar have given the Carneros Wine Company team more experience than you'd find in operations ten times the size. Still going strong after all these decades, the Mahoneys are proud to bring you their old-school, family-style wines crafted with love and care.
Mahoney 2015 Carneros Estate Pinot Noir: This sumptuous Pinot Noir is comprised many lots of Pinot Noir from our two estate vineyards: the Mahoney Ranch vineyard in the Napa side of the Carneros, and the Las Brisas vineyard in the Sonoma side of Carneros. Showcasing multiple distinct Pinot Noir clonal selections from diverse micro-climates and soils within our vineyards, this wine is the benchmark by which Carneros Pinots should be measured.
The 2015 vintage Estate Pinot has a pronounced French oak presence that gives this wine a very supple/elegant mouthfeel. The dark fruit flavors of black cherry and blackberry combine with these earthy/spicy notes to deliver a very delicious Pinot Noir that fills the palate from molar to molar.
Mahoney 2014 Carneros Las Brisas Vineyard Pinot Noir: When our blending team sits down to create the final blends for the Mahoney Vineyards wines, it doesn’t take us long to identify the lots that will go into the Las Brisas Pinot. Even though we taste the wines blind, Las Brisas vineyard lots tend to have a luxurious texture and a bright fruit component that is quite different than what we taste in the Mahoney Ranch lots.
What we found in the 2014 vintage Pinots was that, regardless of the vineyard they came from, the wines were dense, structured, and they displayed a dark fruit character. In fact, this may be one of the biggest bodied Las Brisas Pinots ever, and that means it will be one of the most sought out wines we have ever released from this vineyard. We bottled only 120 cases of this wine!
