Item Description

Farmstrong 2017 Field White, 4 Half-Bottle Cans

Farmstrong 2017 Field White (Grenache Blanc, Albariño, Verdelho):  The Farmstrong White Field blend is fragrant yet a little mysterious, a mélange of white peach, star fruit, Mirabelle plum and even a shiso/Meyer lemon tart. It’s fresh, vibrant and alive—a dancing lemon drop enjoyed under the light of a full moon.

The 2017 is a blend of Grenache Blanc (41%) from Roger King’s Ledgewood Vineyard, Albariño(35%)  from Babcock Vineyard, and Verdelho (24%) from Capp Inn Ranch  all located in Suisun Valley. Both vineyards and all three varieties were picked and pressed as one lot to add complexity and integrate the components for a dynamic blend.

The lot was a native fermentation and it was carried out at cool temperatures allowing for a slow and steady fermentation that lasted over a month.  After dryness the wine was aged in neutral French oak and received lees stirring. The wine was then left to settle until it was bottled in the summer.

These vineyard sites and varieties all play an important role in forming this blend.  Kings site allows the Grenache Blanc to fully mature at lower ripeness, thus developing complex aromatics and soft tannins while retaining vibrancy.   The Babcock site has a large diurnal shift which allows for incredible acid retention in the Albariño along with that maritime influence so important in classic Albariño sites. The site also provides enough daytime sunshine to ripen the Verdelho to express its tropical and stone fruit side while maintaining vibrancy and focus.

In addition, each variety is picked at markedly different ripeness levels, using favorite characteristics of each variety to work together to achieve harmony and depth as a blend.

About the Can: This is the wine that goes in the bottle of Farmstrong Field White, however, now this wine is also conveniently located in a 375mL can.  Being a busy outdoorsy type myself, the idea of delicious wine that was in a light and portable package became something of great interest to me.

I decided to offer these wines to you in this format, now you can bring them with you wherever life's adventures take you.  Some of my favorite spots so far have been the beach, hiking, sailing, but the options truly are endless!! The cans are light, they chill down faster, they don't break, and heck, let's face it, they are just fun!

So crack a can, I promise you ... it will just happen: you will crack a smile too. Enjoy!  (Winemaker Faith Armstrong Foster)

Farmstrong Wines are dynamic blends that tilt their hat to California’s diversity and history. They are expressions the vineyard sites are very special to me. I am a true believer in personal connection and there is a story behind each vineyard site and how it came to be part of my portfolio. In these stories you will learn more about the people behind these vineyards. I liken my connection to these vineyards to that of one’s favorite shirt or coffee mug or chair. Like a well worn fabric or a slightly chipped mug that may have initially caught my eye for its beauty, but over the years it has won my heart because it just feels right. When it comes to vineyards this happens too, and it is a combination of my connection with the vines themselves and my connection with those that tend them. For me the growers hands are most definitely part of the terroir.
