Item Description
"Brooklyn Daisy Water Tower" Framed Paper Collage
Comes with a Wooden Frame measuring 12.5" x 12.5"
Inspired by the water tower that can be seen from the front steps of The Children's School on Carroll Street, in "Brooklyn Daisy Water Tower", I used an Exact-o knife to cut these two types of paper to create this artwork.
Growing up in Northwest Indiana and being surrounded by the steel mills and factories around Lake Michigan, I feel drawn to industrial landscapes. Since moving to NYC, I am constantly intrigued by the beauty and stateliness of the rooftop water towers.
The process of many of my paintings includes an Exact-o knife to create the hardedge that I adore. In cutting stencils for the paintings, I discovered the beauty in some of the scraps of paper. Pattern, color, and the satisfaction of a crisp, hard line paired with the endless possibilities of negative space led to these works on paper.
