From our gardens to our kitchen, we present fresh interpretations of traditional Italian dishes using sustainably-farmed, local fruits and vegetables, and all organic meats.

Inspiration from the bounty of local farms and our own restaurant garden help create a daily changing menu that has kept Bistro Don Giovanni on the San Francisco Chronicle’s top Bay Area restaurants since the list’s inception.

Our lively bar features hundreds of Napa Valley and Italian wines, as well as seasonally inspired cocktails.

Piano Del Cerro 2012 Aglianico del Vulture DOC, 1 Bottle

This Italian red wine is 100% Aglianico del Vulture from 70 to 80 year old vines grown on volcanic soil rich in clay, calcium, nitrogen, and tuff. The color is an intense deep ruby while the aroma is ample and complex, with dominant notes of bitter cherry, aromatic herbs, and distant hints of vanilla and thyme. The result is a wine with a marked personality of silky and highly persistent tannins that are nonetheless never invasive. Hints of chocolate with persistent creamy and fruity final. 

Winemaker: Massimo Di Bari. Pre-fermentative maceration takes place at 41°F for 10 days and is followed by fermentation carried out using natural yeasts for 60 days at a maximum termperature of 79°F. The wine is put into new barriques for 24 months.

Cellaring: 10 to 15 years.

Basilicata is one of Italy's most ancient regions, colonized by the Greeks around the 7th century BC; its noble red grape of Aglianico was first planted in the region. In fact the name comes from Hellenico, "Greek." Vulture is part of a large area that extends to the north of the Basilicata region, dominated by the austere profile of the Monte Vulture, a non-active volcano.

Winning bidders located in Northern California may pick up their items at Stone Bridge School in Napa from Tuesday, March 26 to Friday, April 12, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. PT. (Note that the school will be closed for spring break from April 15-19.) Items not picked up by April 12 will be mailed to the winning bidder, and purchaser is responsible for shipping and insurance costs.

Items purchased by bidders residing outside of Northern California will be shipped (if possible) on or around Tuesday, March 26, unless you tell us that you do wish to pick up your item. Purchaser is responsible for shipping and insurance costs. Please contact us at sbspcauction@gmail.com before March 25 if you plan to pick up.
