Item Description

Ayodele Kinchen, Owner of Duafe Designs, presents an Introduction to Waist Beads for our West African Night of Culture! Ayodele is an artist, dancer, maker, and designer who specializes in hand-made, culturally-inspired jewelry. Waist Beads are an intriguing African custom born from the Old Kongo tradition of celebrating a woman's life journey and rites of passage from birth to transition. They have strong historical roots in West Africa and are worn as a symbol of femininity, beauty, and protection. Ayodele is excited to offer a set of waist beads for up to 15 women in attendance and highlight why this traditional body adornment is resurging in popularity amongst women of color across the diaspora. Your pallet will take a trip to Edo State in Nigeria with Nigerian Jolloff, meat pies, sweet plantains and pepper soup provided by Richard and Shereda Nosakhare. This is a party that you won't want to miss; music, food and fellowship._

Value: $35 per person with room for 20

Thank you Ayodele Kinchen and Richard & Shereda Nosakhare!
