Item Description
Our classroom project developed from our study of birds. Third graders study animal adaptation and habitat through an in-depth bird study. For our project each student sketched the specific bird they studied, then watercolored the bird as realistically as possible. This piece of artwork includes the outline of our state because all birds in the unit are birds students can find in New Mexico. It's great to watch them identify birds on field trips and at school! The key under the painting/collage tells the name of each bird, size, and name of student/artist/researcher. The research took about two months, and the art piece took us about two weeks. The project is beautifully matted and framed (26" x 38").
