Item Description

The winning bidder will take home a trio of exceptional wines from the cellar of Gerry Hein.

Domaine Reyane & Pascal Bouley 2006 Volnay Clos des Chenes Premier Cru Burgundy ($65): Pascal and his wife Reyane run this 27 acre estate with style and grace, and it shows in their wines. Representing the 6th generation of the family, their young son Pierri ck has joined the team as of the 2005 harvest. The vines are very old - averaging over 50 years of age, and the wines are pure Volnay. From the succulent Volnay Robardelles to the intense Volnay Clos des Chenes, they age exceptionally well, revealing layers of aromas and flavors that are intoxicating and seductive.

Domaine Thibert Pere et Fils 2012 Pouilly-Fuisse ($52) Domaine Thibert is in the heart of the village of Fuisse, which is itself the heart of the Pouilly-Fuisse appellation. Christophe Thibert and his sister Sandrine (6th generation in the family business) are now at the helm of this venerable 60-acre estate in the Maconnais region, comprised of over 50 different parcels. An elegant and pure nose reflects notes of mineral reduction and a variety of floral elements.

The Domaine Ninot 2013 Mercure Burgundy Vielles Vignes ($36) is from the Cote Challonaise - the part of Burgundy that is just south of the Cote de Beaune. The most prominent viticultural villages there are Rully, Givry, Montagny, Bouzeron, and the star of the show - Mercurey. The wines are generally a bit "earthier' and somewhat less "refined" than those of the Cote de Beaune, but there are many top examples of delicious wines of elegance and grace, not to mention excellent values. This wine is from the village ofMercurey, with vineyards covering all of the beautiful rolling hillsides surrounding the ancient town. There are both Villages and Premier Cru vineyards in Mercurey. Rick black fruits, dominated by blackberries and black cherry are in the forefront. This wine has never seen any wood, allowing the fruit to shine through, soaring over the earthy structure subtly underneath it all. This is mouth-filling juice, ripe and delicious, and it loves steaks or sausages on the grill to go with it.
