Item Description
Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, Rich Steinmetz began playing golf socially at the age of 11, and competitively at the age of 14. As a junior golfer, Rich won the Philadelphia Jr. PGA two times. At 16 he made it all the way to the Optimist Jr. World Championships at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California. He was a two time PAC 10 Champion, and qualified three times for the PIAA State Championships during his high school career.
Rich was hired as the 2nd Assistant Pro at Blue Bell Country Club after college. He worked at Blue Bell for two years before being hired at Spring Ford Country Club as the 1st Assistant Pro. After serving ten years as Assistant, Rich was named Head Golf Professional at Spring Ford in 2007.
As a professional, he has won over 80 professional golf events, including the 2007, 2010 & 2011 Philadelphia PGA Section Championships and the 2009 Philadelphia Open. He has also played in two PGA Championships (2005 at Baltusrol and 2010 at Whistling Straits). In 2005 Rich represented the United States at the PGA Cup matches in Ireland at the K Club.
Other honors include winning the Philadelphia PGA Player of the Year in 2006 and being named the Philadelphia PGA assistant professional of the Year in 2004. Rich also won the award for low scoring average in the Philadelphia section in 2003 & 2005. He has recorded five holes-in-one, with two in competition.
