Item Description
Collectible Surgi Doll by Eija Loponen-Stephenson: Linen, polyester, cotton, polyester stuffing, glass beads, nylon and cotton thread, embroidery floss, acrylic gouache, paper clay, acrylic gloss medium.
This doll is adorned with wounds that fester in couture pink beading with pearl puss. This doll is proud of their wounds and wears them like a fancy dress. In the ambiguous place between healing and bleeding, this doll is beautifully abject.
Item Special Note
Eija Loponen-Stephenson is a cross- disciplinary sculpture and installation artist. Her work emerges at the material intersection of textiles, plastics, and found objects. She began doll-making six years ago and founded Small and Wrinkled Dolls in 2018: an ongoing collection of small girl anamorphs with cut knees and pearls in their hair.
