Item Description

In this immersive studio tour, Douglas Cox, a German-trained violin maker with 52 years' experience, will give a 90-minute lecture and demonstration covering the history, design, and construction methods of members of the violin family.  Brattleboro Music Center faculty member Michele Liechti will play the featured instruments to demonstrate their different sound qualities.

Douglas Cox

Since 1981 Doug has built more than 950 instruments. His instruments have received awards from the Violin Society of America and are played by artists around the world in a wide variety of musical settings.

Michele Liechti

A student of David Abel and Kato Havas, Michele Liechti is a member of Arcadia Players, and free lances throughout New England. She teaches adult beginning violin class, coaches chamber music and specializes in the New Approach. She also teaches at Northfield Mount Hermon School, MA.

Tour may include up to 8 people.
