Item Description
Enjoy a week on Cod Creek in the Northern Neck of Virginia located in Heathsville, VA.
This lovely home is nestled in 4 acres of woods right on Cod creek with an outlying view of the Chesapeake Bay. The house can accommodate up to 8 with three bedrooms and 2 full baths. The open design of the kitchen, dining and living rooms as well as a lovely screened porch makes family gatherings spacious and inviting. A fireplace in the living room makes it cozy on colder nights and the house has a grill and kayaks for use by guests. Enjoy crabbing, fishing, and swimming or basking in the sun on the large extended pier or under large maple trees in the front yard at the water’s edge. Watch eagles soar, sea gulls call, ospreys in their nests and heron glide across the water.
Only 2 ½ hours away, the Northern Neck of Virginia is a coastal peninsula beginning in the upland forest of Westmoreland County and gently dipping some 60 miles southeast to the Chesapeake Bay. Steeped in history, this gorgeous countryside is the place where the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers meet the Chesapeake Bay. Some consider it the “birthplace of our nation.” It is the birthplace of Presidents George Washington, James Monroe, and James Madison, and the ancestral home of General Robert E. Lee. Visit many of the preserved historic sites such as Washington’s Birthplace and the family home of Robert E. Lee. Visit the Reedsville Fisherman’s Museum or the Steamboat Museum in Irvington; explore vineyards and dining along the Chesapeake Bay, or sail where John Smith explored in 1608. Follow birding, cycling and water trails. Kayak on the creek, shop at the antique and thrift shops or stroll down Main Street in Kilmarnock.
Here you can step back in time and truly experience the road less traveled. Once in the Northern Neck you can slow down and reconnect with the nature and history of one of the best kept secrets along the eastern seaboard.
