About Stephanie
Stephanie Intelisano is a Mold Maker and Ceramicist living in Oakland, California. She graduated from The Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York with a degree in Industrial Design in 2007. Originally from the Hudson Valley in upstate New York, Stephanie moved to the Bay Area in 2011 to continue her work as a Packaging Development Engineer. For the past 7 years Stephanie worked as an engineer and maintained a rigorous studio practice in the evenings and weekends. In early 2018 she decided to leave engineering behind to pursue mold making and ceramics full time.

About the Work
The work Stephanie makes is deeply inspired by the home chef whose tableware gets used frequently. Porcelain is cast on the heavier side to withstand everyday use around the kitchen. The colors are subtle enough to not distract from the food you are about to eat or that cup of something you’re about to drink. The color palette available is meant to be mixed or matched. It’s really up to you.

Stephanie combines two ways of prototyping to create all of her designs. First, she utilizes 3D modeling software to help estimate volume and overall design of each piece. If a vessel, the design is translated to a plaster model using a traditional way of prototyping called plaster turning. This method requires a small manual lathe and some arm strength. The handle forms are printed using an FDM 3D printer and then slip cast.

Mold making services for slip casting are available. Please reach out through the contact page to discuss.
