Ted Andreasian and Nune Karamyan have been working as architectural-based fine-art photographers since 2015. With generations of architects in their lives, the choice of subject came naturally. Long exposure is their main tool for presenting a space and expressing the passage of time in one still frame. The exposure, anywhere from thirty seconds to twelve minutes, brings to the photograph glistening water, dynamic skies and a general feeling of serenity. At the same time, long exposure techniques accentuate the stillness of immovable objects, the timelessness of architecture, and removes individuals from the frame, sometimes creating a spiritual or surrealistic architectural scene. In a sense, they say, long exposure photography is a return to the darkroom, where the outcome of the photograph is unknown until the exposure is finished. Prints are made by the artists using the highest quality, archival digital printing.
