NICOLAS QUILLE, Master of Wine, Shares Some Favorite Wine Selections and More

Nicolas Quillé, Chief Winemaking and Operations Officer of the Crimson Wine Group, has an unparalleled experience in the wine industry in France and the U.S.

He has spent the last 26 years in a variety of winegrowing positions in both countries. His U.S. experience includes winegrowing and management positions with Banfi, Pacific Rim and Bonny Doon. Prior to moving to the United States, Nicolas worked in Burgundy (Antonin Rodet and Domaine Prieur), Provence (Domaine de la Courtade), Champagne (Laurent Perrier) and Portugal (Taylor’s Port).

Nicolas holds a master’s degree in Enology from the University of Dijon, Burgundy, a master’s degree in Sparkling Winery Management from the University of Reims, Champagne and an MBA from the University of Washington. He was also recently named a member of the Institute of Masters of Wine. The MW designation is the most prestigious title in the world of wine. What started more than sixty years ago as a qualification for the UK wine trade is now held by a global family of fewer than 300 elite Masters of Wine, in 30 countries. MW members produce award-winning wines, books, films, journalism, and television programs.

The winning bidder will enjoy a selection of Nicolas' favorite wines, from his own sought-after cellar.

2007 Kenwood artist serie Cabernet Sauvignon – Sonoma County: The top end of Kenwood winery from a good vintage. Aged in Nicolas' personal cellar for 10 years and ready to drink. A beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon from California.

2014 Pine Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon - Stags Leap district: A classic Stag’s Leap District concentrated and rich Cabernet Sauvignon. Ready to drink if you like your cabs young or with 8 to 10 years aging potential.

2013 Pedestal Merlot – Columbia Valley: Top Merlot wines from long shadows made in partnership with Michel Rolland. A great American Merlot.

NV Champagne rosé brut – Nicolas Feuillatte: A refreshing methode traditionnelle from this consistently good producer.

This package also includes four front-row VIP seats at the May 18, 2019 Wine Tasting and Education event that Nicolas will present at the Alliance Française in Portland. This exceptional event will feature exclusive wines of Beaujolais, a region that is close to Nicolas' heart. These events are popular and always sell out quickly, but these four VIP seats are reserved for you to enjoy.

Myron Redford Shares Vintage Pinot Noirs - Eyrie and Elk Cove

Myron Redford became interested in wine at a young age working at Washington's Associated Vintners (now Columbia Winery). He bought a small vineyard in Amity, Oregon in 1974 and had his first vintage in 1976. He released a Beaujolais Nouveau-style Pinot Noir in 1977. He was part of the first wave of pioneering vintners in Oregon's Willamette Valley which included David Adelsheim, Dick Erath, David Lett and Dick Ponzi, and was one of the organizers of the first International Pinot Noir Celebration. Redford introduced a Gamay Noir varietal-designated wine to Oregon in 1988 and debuted sulfite free wine from organically grown grapes in 1991. He also has been a proponent of Pinot Blanc over Chardonnay in Oregon.

Redford and Viki Metle met in 1980 when Wetle visited the winery to participate in a harvest party. Redford's mother invited her to stay for dinner and she never left. The harvest party has remained an annual tradition since 1978 and centers on a small block of estate Riesling.

Redford farmed 15 acres of vineyards and had contracts with many family growers in the Willamette Valley. He adhered to organic practices in his vineyard and was a respected veteran vintner who oversaw a 10,000 case production of 17 wines including Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Gewürztraminer and Riesling. The Pinot Noirs included an Amity Cuvée, Willamette Valley, "Eco" Pinot Noir, Estate, Winemaker's Reserve and a few single-vineyard offerings.

Myron offers this pair of exceptional 1979 Pinots to support this auction - a Hillcrest & an Elk Cove. Each is valued at $300.

And to store your six new bottles or others, you’ll take home a handcrafted 12-bottle wine rack in walnut from Stellar Cellars.
