Item Description
Temari art is Japanese folk art that was originally meant to make small balls for children to play with. Today, Temari Balls are often extremely intricate decorative objects, sometimes given as gifts for special occasions. Temari may have cores made of fabric or yarn scraps, paper, styrofoam or rice husks. Sometimes bells or rattles are included. The cores are wrapped in yarn, then in thread and then a design is stitched on the thread. The artist has included a display stand and a hanger string. If you plan to display your Temari Ball on the stand, you can snip the hanger off with scissors. The artist is new to this art form and the 3 beautiful pieces she chose to donate have a holiday theme. Look for the other 2 in this Auction.
