Winner will receive a certificate for full tuition for a 1, 2 or 3-week summer camp program of The Center for Gifted and may choose morning, afternoon, or full-day!

Valid toward Summer Wonders, Worlds of Wisdom and Wonder, Project ’19, or Tinker-a-Thon summer camp programs.

Tinker-a-Thon Camp (Three 1-week camp programs) - 1st - 5th grades

*at Elmhurst College

Our three 2019 Tinker-a-Thon Program sessions meet on weekdays for one week, each: July 8-12, July 15-19, and July 22-26. Students may enroll in either the full day (9:00-3:00) morning half-day (9:00- 11:40), afternoon half-day (12:20-3:00), or full-day (9:00-3:00), for whichever session(s) they choose.

During all sessions, students explore a variety of activities, builds and creations, focusing on art, science, technology, math, and engineering, under the tutelage and practical guidance of expert, creative teachers in student-centered classrooms. Depending on the length and scope of the particular activities, some students may remain in the same classrooms all morning or afternoon, while others will rotate to
different rooms. For students who enroll in more than one session, the activities offered will vary from one session to the next.

Before beginning their afternoon session, students enrolled for the full day join their peers and instructors for lunch.

Summer Wonders & Worlds of Wisdom and Wonder Camp Programs (14 one-week camps and one two-week camp) - Pre-kindergarten - 8th grades

*Locations - Buffalo Grove, Cary, Elmhurst, Glenview, Lincolnshire

All programs meet on weekdays for one or two weeks, each. Students enroll for either full-day (9:00-3:00), morning half-day (9:00-11:40), or afternoon half-day (12:20-3:00) for the one- or two-week length of their program. Before beginning their afternoon courses, students enrolled for full-days join their peers and instructors for lunch (sack lunches and drinks brought from home), outdoor and/or indoor play and, for some younger students, a quiet story time.

The program format for each student is determined by grade level and course choices. For one-week programs, it is either two 80-minute class periods or a single 160-minute class period each half day. For two-week programs, it is three 53-minute classes each half day. Most students select their own courses from a rich variety of fascinating topics (see individual
program flyers on website). The youngest students enjoy a single self-contained classroom experience each half day; they explore their theme-based topics in interdisciplinary settings, through literature, art, science, drama, math, and movement.

*At Summer Wonders in Glenview: Students do not choose classes. All students participate in the “Innovation Creation Lab.” Depending on the length and scope of their activities, some students will remain in the same classroom all morning or afternoon, while others will rotate to different rooms. Also in Glenview, there is no outdoor play or exercise area. After lunch, students may play board games,
cards, or strategy games, solve puzzles, read, draw, chat, etc. until the afternoon classes begin. We are sensitive to students who may need a bit of large-motor activity during the lunch break and will offer appropriate indoor alternatives to ordinary outdoor play.

Project '19 Camp (3 week camp) - 6th - 12th grades (Offers free roundtrip transportation from the City and 11 suburbs)

*at Elmhurst College

Project ‘19 meets on weekdays for three weeks, July 9-27. Students enroll in either morning half-day (9:00-11:40), afternoon half-day (12:20-3:00), or full-day (9:00-3:00) for the entire three weeks. For each half day, the program format for each student is determined by his or her course selections and will be either two 78-minute classes or a single 160-minute workshop for the entire three weeks.

Before beginning their afternoon courses, students enrolled for the full day join their peers and instructors for lunch. They may bring their own sack lunches and drinks from home, or purchase lunches from the Elmhurst College cafeteria.
