Dalla Valle Vineyards overlooks the Napa Valley floor from a hillside terrace 400 feet above the Silverado Trail in Oakville. This exceptional acreage has continually distinguished itself as the ideal site for producing some of the worlds finest wines, which you'll taste via two impressive magnums. Your first magnum (1.5L) will be the stellar 2015 Collina Dalla Valle. A blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine exhibits an opaque, dark-purple color, and lively aromas of roasted coffee, licorice, kirsch, and upturned earth. It reveals all of the hallmark attributes of their estate: power, richness, typicity, and elegance. The wine has great depth and structure, and a long finish of serious, but burnished, tannins. Collina Dalla Valle is crafted to be enjoyed immediately upon release, but this vintage will most definitely evolve over the years, and age comfortably for several decades to come.
The second magnum (1.5L) is a 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon. The first vintage, produced in 1986, established this wine as an instant Napa Valley classic. Select Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc and aged in no greater than 60% new French oak. For close to three decades, this standard-bearer has consistently shown impressive structure and velvety berry flavors.The 2015 vintage has aromas of black fruits, white chocolate, caramel, truffles, and roasted meat. On the palate, the wine is rock solid, packed with fruit and complexity. But, despite its mass, the wine has a narrow, laser-like focus, with ample acid and tannin, and as it unfolds in the glass, more layers emerge: wet slate, matchstick, gravel, and kirsch. It will surely broaden and be burnished with age.
