Item Description
TITLE: Gond-Style Birds
SIZE: 12" x 12"
DESCRIPTION: Our second graders learned about the Gond people of India and their amazing artistic traditions which include painting colorful artworks on their walls. We examined the stylistic shapes painted by this agricultural people. We discussed the painting style of typical Gond art, where colorful dots and dashes are the building blocks of amazingly colorful paintings. We took colorful template pieces – a pre-cut bird’s body and two separate wing shapes – and applied Gond painting techniques and perhaps applied our own twists to creating colorful Gond Style birds. These birds have been mounted onto heavy cardstock backgrounds and framed for easy hanging of these unique masterpieces.
