Item Description
Q+M Travels is pleased to offer a unique, two day, one night San Francisco Bay sailing experience aboard the sailing Yacht "Esprit" for a couple or family of four (or five if kids are smaller).
With only minor tidal considerations, the itinerary is yours to explore and to design as you wish.
Leaving from Berkeley, you have the option to explore numerous locations around the greater Bay Area. Angel Island is our first pick due to the numerous hiking trails and historic sites. Then there is Clipper Cove tucked between Treasure and Yerba Buena Islands with breathtaking views of the San Francisco city front and a budding gastro block. Fancy a night in San Francisco? We can anchor Esprit in historic Aquatic Park and explore the famous Fisherman's Wharf and Embarcadero. Last but not least, one of our personal favorites is Sausalito. This adventure is all-inclusive of nutritious, organic meals prepared by an onboard chef.
Sailing ignites a sense of adventure in people of all ages, and you can build your own right here in the San Francisco Bay! Imagine feeling the rush of the wind in the sails, the breeze in your face, and the stunning views that surround you as you head to your destination. Once you arrive, you can explore on your own timetable, returning to the boat to relax and enjoy delicious and nutritious meals that have been prepared for you. Views from the water are some of the most beautiful in our region and you can experience the shifting light of dawn to dusk, and the glimmer of the moon and stars at night. Below deck, there is a complete 'tiny house' with kitchen and dining (galley), bathrooms (head) and beds (berth). Best of all, the Captain, Mitchell Andrus, and the Mate (and Chef), Quincey Cummings, are highly skilled and very personable. So hop aboard Esprit, a Kelly Peterson 46, and embrace your sense of adventure. Sailing with Mitchell and Quincy could ignite a lifelong passion for sailing for you, even if this is your first time!
San Francisco Adventure:
Sail to the Aquatic Park at the foot of Ghirardelli Square and explore the shops, Fisherman's Wharf and the Embarcadero. Step back in time at the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park and visit its magnificent fleet of historic ships (fun fact: the most impressive tall ship Balclutha, was featured in the 1935 film Mutiny on the Bounty with Clark Gable). After your day of adventure, relax on deck of the Espirit and enjoy delicious meals while admiring stunning views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge and the islands in the Bay. Finish up your evening in the cozy galley with a warm drink, good book or game of cards.
Angel Island Adventure:
Sail to Ayala Cove on Angel Island and spend the day hiking, picnicking, and exploring Angel Island's a rich history. Three thousand years ago the island served as a fishing and hunting site for the Coastal Miwok, was a haven for Spanish explorer Juan Manuel de Ayala and later became the "Ellis Island of the West," and you can learn more at the Island's Visitor Center. From the top of Angel Island there is a 360 degree view of the Bay Area, including the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco city skyline and Mount Tamalpais. Anchored in the cove, you can relax and enjoy a meal prepared just for you. As evening deepens and the stars appear, let the tranquility and natural beauty transport you.
Sausalito Adventure:
Sail to Sausalito, one of the prettiest towns around San Francisco Bay, with knockout views, colorful yacht harbors, quaint houseboats and lots of restaurants and gift shops. Rent kayaks and paddle around the famous Sausalito houseboats, keeping an eye out for wildlife such as harbor seals, sea otters and egrets. Visit one of Sausalito's best kept secrets -the Bay Model, a working hydraulic model of the entire San Francisco Bay and Sacramento - San Joaquin River Delta System - fascinating, unique, and admission is free! At the end of the day, relax on Esprit's deck and enjoy a meal made with the freshest ingredients and tailored to your tastes. Watch the sunset from the deck and gather in the galley to share stories or play games.
Special Thanks to Q+M Travels and the Dirking/Livingston families

Mitchell - Captain & Cook
Born in the mountains of Utah, Mitchell spent his winters developing his craft as a skier and his summers sailing small boats on the lakes of Utah and costal Southern California. Later, sailing in the Caribbean aboard the school ship Ocean Star proved to be a life shifting opportunity that led to a lifetime of sail training. After Ocean Star, Mitchell went to work teaching teenagers aboard 50' sloops. He is now teaching at OCSC Sailing in San Francisco Bay and holds a USCG captains license, numerous US Sailing Association Instructor certifications, and Quincey and he have completed their ISAF Sea Survival course. He really enjoys teaching the art of sailing and does so through a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Sailing with Mitch is always a good time, he's light hearted, good humored, and a little old fashioned. Everyone learns something about sailing when aboard with him.
Quincey - Mate & Chef
A born traveler, Quincey spent her childhood in between Asia and the United States. She was born in Hong Kong to American expat parents, and was lucky enough to visit many Asian countries from a young age. True to her Pisces nature, she is absolutely at home around water. Her sailing experience includes working for the adventure company ActionQuest in the British Virgin Islands as Mate and EMT. In 2017, she and Mitchell led a flotilla of nine boats in the Leeward Caribbean Islands through the company OCSC Sailing, where she gained more experience with provisioning and cooking underway! Her deep passion, education, and career background is in Holistic Nutrition. She loves talking about food, and even more so, loves nourishing people with great food! Her creativity really shines in the galley, using quality ingredients to craft delicious bites and meals meant to share. She is able to create meals around any and all dietary restrictions and preferences. She is excited to share her passion of sailing, adventure, and eating with all who come aboard!
