Roda Movements is a martial arts, fitness and dance studio with highly trained instructors who provide classes in over 8 different martial arts and fitness disciplines and styles of dance. The studio opened in 2008 with a focus on martial arts and dance from Brazil and Latin America but soon expanded to include all forms of movement from all over the world. Roda’s goal is to promote fitness, health and community with its members in an inviting and friendly environment. We are located in 7014-A Westmoreland Ave, Takoma Park, MD
At Roda Movements, we offer Capoeira instruction for kids and adult using the techniques and methodologies of the group ANGÁ Capoeira (Mestre Maxuel) which is an affiliation of Capoeira Sul da Bahia. Capoeira Sul da Bahia was founded in the state of Bahia, Brazil by Mestre Railson and now has schools in over 22 countries around the world, including Europe, North and South America and Asia ANGÁ Capoeira has flourished in the Washington, DC area for the past thirteen years under the instruction of Professor Hakim (Roberto Tapia). Through this class, students will focus on learning basic and advanced corporal techniques, Students will also learn the music and rhythms necessary for Capoeira through instruction in songs and instruments such as the drums, Berimbau and tambourine.
