Item Description
African Adventure, a knitted patchwork quilt designed by Horst Schulz. Horst Schulz has two published books, neither of which contain the complete pattern for this quilt. The original quilt was the result of workshops he conducted in South Africa in 2000. Ravelry published a pattern based on notes provided by an attendee of one of the workshops with permission of the artist.
Knitted by Melissa Mantha a Plugged In Alumni Mom who has been knitting since her mother taught her when she was ten. She’s completed a variety of knitted wear for family and pieces that are one of a kind artistic fiber creations. The quilt is comprised of basic knitted shells that fit together and are knitted together in a basic unit of 9 shells. Assembled exactly like a quilt with knitting all pieces including the circles along the edge. The final edge of the afghan is crocheted to complete the project. Since the pattern is open ended, it’s been used to make handbags, table runners and of course the quilt.
The fibers are acrylic yarns that are machine washable. Please use a gentle cycle in cold water for a machine wash.
