Week 1: Cultures and Cooking
June 24 – 28
Our first week of camp takes us on a journey around the world as campers explore the customs and cuisines of nations and people far and wide! Each day is themed with a different world culture, and campers dive into each, learning how to cook native dishes, dance to traditional songs, play popular sports, and create culturally authentic crafts. The overarching focus of the week is on the food of each culture, with campers learning basic cooking techniques at the beginning of the week and mastering complex dishes by the end. Cultures explored will range from Central American, Japanese, Eastern European, and even Australian!

Older campers will participate in a week-long production, in which they will act in their very own theatrical storytelling showcase, performed at the end of the week for the entire camp community. A special highlight of the week will take place at the Santa Monica Playhouse, in which campers will delight in a performance of Alice in Wonderland and a special acting workshop led by the performers.
