Item Description

This Cory Schneider autgraphed puck is a great gift for any Devils fan.

After spending the first five seasons of his NHL career backing up Roberto Luongo with the Vancouver Canucks and another season sharing the goaltending duties with Martin Brodeur with the New Jersey Devils, Schneider finally moved out of the role of apprentice with the Devils in 2014-15.

The native of Marblehead, Mass., immediately came into his own as an NHL goalie, finishing his first full season as a starter tied for ninth in the NHL in goals-against average (2.26), fourth in games (69) and third in saves (1,834).

Schneider's performance was what the Devils thought he was capable of when they traded the No. 9 pick in the 2013 NHL Draft for him and signed him to a seven-year contract.

It was probably the kind of season the Canucks always thought Schneider was capable of as well. After all, they were the first team to bring Schneider to the NHL when they selected him in the first round (No. 26) of the 2004 NHL Draft.

Schneider spent five years working his way to the NHL, playing at Boston College and with Manitoba of the American Hockey League before sticking with the Canucks for a full season in 2012-13.

As soon as he reached the NHL, Schneider made an impact. In 25 games (22 starts) as Luongo's backup in 2010-11, Schneider had a dazzling .929 save percentage and 2.23 goals-against average.

Schneider's workload increased each of the next two seasons, and while he remained a backup to Luongo, he received more All-Star Team votes than Luongo in both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, finishing ninth and 12th, respectively, in the goaltender balloting.
