ABOUT MORGENTHAL FREDERICS
Creating, curating and caring for the world's finest eyewear since 1913.
For over a century, Morgenthal Frederics has been a purveyor of luxury eyeglasses and sunglasses. Established in 1913 in New York City as Frederics Opticians, the company was founded with the goal of providing the highest quality product and opticianry to its clients. Richard Morgenthal acquired Frederics Opticians in 1986 and transformed it into Morgenthal Frederics, the leader in providing luxury eyewear for the expressive individual.
To this day, Morgenthal Frederics celebrates eyewear as the paragon of individual expression through timeless designs and use of the finest materials from around the world. By focusing on signature one-of-a-kind buffalo horn frames, their namesake collection was the first luxury line of buffalo horn eyewear. Each heirloom quality piece is exemplary in its curation and composition, using sustainably-sourced buffalo horn milled by master artisans in Germany, handcrafted acetate from France, and the finest Japanese titanium.
Jeff Press started his career as an optician, training under Richard Morgenthal as he continued to develop his talent in the eyewear industry. He joined Morgenthal Frederics in 1998 and was named Chief Designer in 2006. Never one to play it safe, Jeff saw an opportunity to experiment with natural materials, eventually creating and designing the largest and most successful buffalo horn eyewear collection in the world. His innovative designs and techniques earned him membership in the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and have made him a sought-after partner for collaborations with major industry leaders in the optical and fashion worlds.
