For children learning French, teachers use communicative methods as well as songs and games in order to help children learn French in a fun environment. For Francophone children attending American schools, AFW offers Francophone classes in which they will follow an advanced French program to become proficient in written French to supplement their verbal skills.

Studies have shown that the earlier children are exposed to a foreign language, the better they are able to gain proficiency and gain broad cognitive benefits.
By singing songs in French, your child is exposed to the sounds and rhythm of the French language and learns to move to the beat of this new language. With activities such as puppetry, finger play, storytelling and more, the student progressively learns language basics and vocabulary relating to his or her immediate surroundings, all the while having fun and relating to others!
A parent or caregiver needs to be present and could even learn along with the child!
