Item Description
Gottfried’s Cabin will be your home away from home as you enjoy a two night stay. This private respite with king bed and clawfoot tub/shower offers a rustic link to Washington’s illustrious past. Built in 1834, Gottfried’s Cabin is near the center of downtown, just blocks away from the Missouri River, as well as great shopping, dining options and the Amtrak Station.
Two vouchers for admission to Iron Spike Model Train Museum – (Named a AAA Midwest Travel Treasure in October 2018) You will find O, HO, N, G and TY gauge layouts beautifully displayed. As a memento, you’ll receive 2 Iron Spike t-shirts, Amtrak caps and train whistles.
You’re in for a treat as you take a private tour of the gallery, studio and home of our wonderful Mayor, Sandy Lucy and her husband, Gary R. Lucy, a nationally recognized wildlife and riverboat artist. This will be an experience to treasure!
Golf fan? Enjoy eighteen holes for two at the Franklin County Country Club, located in the Ozark foothills just south of Washington, MO. You’ll immediately notice how beautifully the course is landscaped and maintained. The zoysia fairways and undulating greens will have you wanting more time. You may tour the property with Master Gardener Dave Wehmeyer and then relax in the clubhouse with a nice complimentary beverage.
Do vintage clothing, antique furnishings, paintings and dishware intrigue you? Then your visit to circa 1899/1900 306 Elm Street, the birth place of Lucile Droege Mauntel, is the place to see. Lucile became President of the National Council of Garden Clubs and worked with Lady Bird Johnson on the Highway Beautification programs. Authenticity is the keyword in this home which will become a house museum in the near future. Be one of the first to sign the Guest Book.
Added to the fun will be a tour of John G’s (one of the pioneers of Washington) Brewery complete with beer tasting. This building was once the Droege Mercantile, dating back to the 1860’s.
There will also be gift certificates awaiting you for The Old Dutch Restaurant and Cowan’s where you’ll want to check out the Mile High Pie.
