This historic town is the location of one of the earliest seaplane flights that took to the air off the shores of Lake Eustis in 1914, only five years after the invention of the seaplane. Today Tavares celebrates her heritage and has been trademarked “America’s Seaplane City”. Visit the historic replicate Woodlea House Prop Shop, home of FA1 the seaplane base where seaplanes rest, nest and soar. Sportsmen will enjoy this county seat situated on the Harris Chain of Lakes, home to some of the best bass fishing in Central Florida. Opportunities for hiking, kayaking and beautiful sunrises and sunsets abound all within this tranquil Lake County paradise encompassing 7.4 square miles. Nights in Tavares are enjoyable in the entertainment district complete with varying cuisine, bands, and an open container policy allowing visitors to enjoy adult beverages whilst walking about and enjoying this 2018 America in Bloom Champion Community.
This destination package includes a three-day experience for two adventurers. Accommodations include a two-night stay at the Key West Resort, a boutique hotel in the heart of the entertainment district. A signature seaplane flight with Jones Brothers Air & Seaplane Adventures. Relax on a guided boat tour of the beautiful Dora Canal, after joining hosts James Dillon, Director of Public Works and Traci Anderson, Parks Management Supervisor for lunch. Revel in the sunset on a beautiful lake with your hosts while at dinner as their guests. The only blackout dates for this package are April 23-26, 2020.
