Item Description
The Birthplace of Country Music Museum, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, tells the story of the 1927 Bristol Sessions recordings and how these led to Bristol becoming known as the birthplace of country music.
Through a variety of exhibits, including interactive displays, film and audio experiences, and historical objects, visitors gain a greater understanding of the significant role of Bristol in music history. The museum also regularly presents educational programs, concerts, jam sessions, film screenings, guest lectures and additional events.
The Birthplace of Country Music also showcases Bristol, Tennessee and Bristol, Virginia’s role in the birth and development of country music through the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion music festival, WBCM Radio Bristol, and a multitude of community and educational outreach programs.
