Carol Watanabe, the artist, since completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at CCAC in Oakland has studied indigenous weaving with Guatemalan natives on the shores of Attitlan, traditional Japanese papermaking in a paper village in Aichi-ken, Japan and in the last 28 years, she has directed her own art school L'Art Vivant in Soreze, a rural French village, as well as creating her own art gallery in Collioure on the Mediterranean where Matisse painted.

Establishing the first nationally recognized Gallery for the Fiber Arts in San Francisco; Founding Apprentice Alliance (a not-for-profit organization dedicated to placing apprentices with masters in all fields of endeavor) most importantly a life-long commitment to creating supportive communities that nourish the wild art spirit in all of us.

Her tapestries, sculptural handmade paper works and paintings hang in private collections, hotels, banks, hospitals and corporate offices across the country and around the world.

Currently, she is living and teaching the concept of "life as an art form" during the winters at her art school in Sebastopol, CA known as Art Heaven, and summers in the French fauvist village of Collioure where she paints and sells her work in her own gallery L'Art Vivant.

Item Special Note

Pick up: Winning bidders can pick up their items at the live event, if present, after the close of the auction and upon successful payment confirmation. A Charter Foundation Representative will contact all other local winning bidders on Monday October 7th to make arrangements for pick up at the school.

Shipping: Items will be shipped to Winning Bidders residing out of town at your expense. Please note that if the item is a gift certificate, gift card, tickets or a similar item, it cannot be insured. We will send it by certified mail. For other items, the shipping charge will include insurance.

The Charter Foundation is not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit.
