Item Description
This lovely handmade pottery bowl is 8.5" in diameter and features a grey-green glaze and etched design. The bowl is from the potter's Riverware collection as the dark brown carved slip decoration is created with native clay dug from the banks of Vermont rivers.
Artist Statement by Matlakwauhtli Mayforth:
I work hard to create forms that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. I believe that a good pot wants to be held! My stoneware pots are glazed with Vermont river clay.
Matlakwauhtli Mayforth was a college student in Monterey California when she discovered ceramics. In 1977, she returned to her native state of Vermont, rented space in a pottery studio and went to work. Today, Matlakwauhtli is a studio potter and teaches clay classes for the Town of Bristol.
