Your group will stroll through formal and informal gardens, hear about the history of the property, see and learn how we're supporting pollinators, admire our venerable Osage orange tree, and enjoy our Children`s Garden. A delicious picnic lunch will be the perfect start or end for a very unique garden experience. As a remembrance of your visit, you will be able to enjoy a discount at our Garden Shop, which is stocked with unique and handmade items by local artisans.
Dan Scott assumed his position as associate director of horticulture and River Farm in 2017 after spending eight years working in horticulture at George Washington's Mount Vernon. Under the tutelage of Mount Vernon's esteemed director of horticulture, Dean Norton, Dan managed approximately 400 acres of historic landscapes, naturalized areas, native plantings, and woodlands, as well as supervised the installation of the landscapes at the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington. Today, Dan oversees River Farm's horticultural staff and interns, collaborates with horticultural partners on AHS/River Farm programs and events, and manages the 25-acre property.
